Shooting stars and a little bit of Woodstock

Iain Mathews

Iain Matthews in Licherode

It’s time again for another „Kultur am Ende der Straße“-night. Friday, August 28th Iain Matthews is coming to Licherode. It will be “a night of the shooting stars”. The world famous singer-songwriter is going to meet a local painter, Elke Anders from Morschen.

There will be paintings, musik, a natureart-event, a bonfire and some wonderful oraganic food from the barbecue and of course lots of shooting stars in the sky.

The event starts at 7 p.m. with the opening of the art-exhibition of Elke Anders. Elke Anders is a painter since childhood, encouraged ba her mother who was a painter herself. 1996 she moved from Berlin to the countryside, to Altmorschen. In 2005 she opened the “Kunstwerkstatt Anders” There she works and there she also gives classes for adults and children as well. A fascinating element of her artwork is kind of motion, movement  in the pictures. The bright and powerfull colours are matching harmonically. They seem to float.

Starting at 8 p.m. Iain Matthews, one of the best British Singer/songwriters is coming to perform on the nice little open-air stage in Licherode. Iain Matthews is famous for his music since the 60th, together with “Fairport Convention”. In 1970 together with „Matthews Southern Comfort“ and his interpretation of „Woodstock“ he had a world-wide hit. Then he used to live in the USA for about 30 years and published about 30 CDs together with “Plainsong” and 20 CDs of his own.

Since a couple of years Iain Matthews is back in Europe. His songs are better then ever – best British songwriting combined with American impact. In his concerts he is able to produce a wonderful atmosphere where his listeners are kind of wrapped in his sounds and voice.

After the concert Iain Matthews as well as Elke Anders are happy to stay on and spend the rest of the evening talking and having fun with their guests. May be there will be even some more spontaneous music at the bonfire? The weather is said to be fine and so we are looking forward to seeing some of the promised shooting stars at night.

In case the weather will not permit an open-air concert the whole event will be moved to the Licherode-Pavilion and will take place as well.

Entrance will open at 6.30 p.m. and will cost 15 € including the art exhibition, the concert and one glass of apple-cider. Reservations can be made per phone on 05664 / 9486-0 or per mail oekonetz.licherode@t-online.de
